CMS adds another Medicare administrative contractor to the list

CMS has awarded the Madison-based Wisconsin Physicians Services Health Insurance Corp. (WPS) a five-year Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) contract. Under the contract, WPS will administer Medicare Part A and Part B fee-for-service claims payment in jurisdiction 5: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. WPS will begin implementing the MAC contract immediately and will have full responsibility for jurisdiction 5 claims processing no later than September 9, 2008.
CMS will award contracts to a total of 15 MACs to administer to every state by 2009, and these contracts are slated to be completely implemented by 2011. For more information, see http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MedicareContractingReform/.
