Study: Ninety percent of U.S. seniors now have drug coverage
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, August 30, 2007
Proponents of Medicare Part D got a boost this week with new research from Reuters Health suggesting more than 90% of Americans aged 65 and older now have prescription drug coverage. Researchers interviewed more than 10,000 seniors nationwide since 2004, before the Part D program took effect. Experts told Reuters the difference is confidence in the program.
"In late 2005, people expressed a lot of confusion and worry about making bad decisions," said David Weir, an economist with the University of Michigan. "In 2006, people mostly said the decision was not very difficult and they had made a good choice."
