There are two essential parts of being prepared for any fire or other disaster: supplies and a plan. Depending on where your facility is located, the disaster response supplies you keep on hand may vary. Among the more common supplies are the following:

  • Flashlights with extra batteries
  • Portable battery-operated radio and fresh batteries
  • First-aid kit and manual
  • Drinking water (i.e., bottled or stored in a tank or barrel)
  • Emergency food (i.e., canned and dried goods that do not require cooking)
  • Nonelectric can opener
  • Essential medications
  • Blankets
