CMS proposes 3.3% increase for SNFs in FY 2008
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, May 3, 2007
This week, CMS proposed a 3.3% increase in the federal market basket rate under SNF PPS for fiscal year 2008, according to an agency press release. The market basket increase, which CMS allots to SNFs and other Medicare providers each year to counteract inflation, translates to approximately $690 million. There were no other major updates in the proposed SNF PPS rule for FY 2008, which is available at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/providers/snfpps.
The proposal will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, May 4, and the public comment period is open until June 29. Both the Bush Administration and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission recommended no market basket increases for SNFs for FY 2008.
