Poll shows Americans in support of Medicare drug negotiations

A national poll conducted by AARP showed that 86% of Americans over 18 believe that Medicare should have the ability to bargain for lower prescription drug prices, according to an AARP press release. Support for granting Medicare the power to negotiate drug prices proves that Americans believe that bulk purchases save money, said David Certner, AARP legislative counsel and policy director. This same poll found that 85% believe drug prices are too high. AARP said it hopes that when the Senate votes on lifting the ban to allow Medicare negotiation rights, Senate members will take into account America's views on the current system, according to the press release.
