CMS revises the RAI User's Manual
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, February 15, 2007
On February 9, CMS posted the latest updates to the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User's Manual. Although minimal, changes were made within Ch. 3, Ch. 5, Ch. 6, and Appendix B of the manual for filling out the Minimum Data Set (MDS). The agency changed its instructions to define any scheduled toileting plan within MDS item H3a, removed some of the language it previously had for coding item P1ac, intravenous medication, and refined its instructions for coding MDS Section W, Immunizations.
