Opposition arises to MedPAC's inflation decision
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, January 31, 2007
The American Health Care Association (AHCA) voiced its dissatisfaction with the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission's (MedPAC) resistance to an annual inflation adjustment for skilled nursing providers, according to an AHCA press release. With the increasing cost of providing quality long-term care, a normal annual inflation update would help to sustain quality gains in nursing homes across the country. The new federal minimum wage will become law soon and will affect staffing costs in facilities. All facilities will feel the affect of MedPAC's decisions, but the severity will vary by demographics, according to the AHCA press release.
