Report finds need for EHR in long-term care
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, November 30, 2006
Brown University released a study on the importance information technology in the future of long-term care, according to its press release. The study, Out of the Shadows: Envisioning a Brighter Future for Long-Term Care in America stated that if the long-term care industry used electronic medical records to track resident information, then it would not only have a better handle on resident needs, but the government could also regulate nursing homes more accurately. The study focused on five additional areas of concern, which were prioritizing long-term care financing, empowering individuals and families, promoting physical and organizational change, investing in the long-term care workforce, and modernizing regulatory controls and incentives.
