Projected Part D cost remains stable
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, August 22, 2006
In 2007, the average cost of Medicare prescription drug plans will remain stable or decline, and the actual average premium residents pay will remain around $24 or less, CMS announced last week. If residents continue to choose less costly plans, the premiums will on average go down in 2007, a CMS official said in an agency press release. In the first year of the program, the actual average premium was $24 because residents chose Part D plans with lower-cost options. This compares favorably to when Part D began in 2006, and the average premium offered by plans was about $32, said the CMS official.
