Acts of psychological abuse

There are five common types of abuse: physical, sexual, psychological (emotional), financial, and neglect. Each form of abuse has different acts that are considered abusive. Make sure you teach staff about all abusive. Remind CNAs that the following acts are considered to be psychological abuse:
- Threats
- Humiliation
- Forced isolation
- Forced socialization
- Treating elderly residents like children
- Taking away a resident's decision-making power
