The intent of the Minimum Data Set’s (MDS) Section GG, Functional Abilities and Goals, is to assess the resident’s need for assistance with self-care and mobility activities. It is completed for Medicare Part A residents on admission and dis-charge. Beginning October 1, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has been collecting data not only on completion of Section GG, but on the resident’s outcomes.
