The CARES Act bill is being reintroduced

Rep. Jim Benacci (R-OH) has reintroduced the bill that is aimed at eliminating the three-day inpatient stay requirement currently required by the Medicare system. The new bill is named Creating Access to Re-habilitation for Every Senior (CARES) Act of 2015.
This bill was initially introduced in 2013. The bill would allow SNFs that meet particular criteria to qualify to waive the prior hospitalization requirement. The criteria are based on CMS’ Nursing Home Compare program. The bill also has the potential to solve the related issue of observation stays.
