Three-day qualifying stays still a problem for SNFs

In mid-2010, Congress introduced the Improving Access to Medicare Coverage Act of 2010. Yet, now in 2012, Congress still has not made a decision on the bill. If passed, it would alter the rules for what qualifies a beneficiary for Medicare Part A SNF coverage. Under current regulations, a Medicare beneficiary must have a three-day inpatient hospital stay to qualify for his or her Part A SNF benefits.
