During the August 11 SNF Open Door Forum (ODF), CMS provided callers with information about the Final Rule, training opportunities, and updates to the RAI User’s Manual.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights:
- Final Rule: CMS officials discussed the provisions included in the SNF PPS Final Rule for Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 in detail during the call. All of these provisions were already covered in a previous MDSCentral post.
- System updates: On August 3, the submission specifications were finalized and posted on the CMS website. Additional information will continue to be posted as it becomes available. The MDS item sets and RUG details are not yet finalized, but should be posted next week. Although the item sets will be labeled as drafts, CMS officials assured ODF listeners that these should not be changing before implementation.
- Training: CMS will hold a training call at 1:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, August 23 that will cover SNF PPS FY 2012 policy changes relating to the MDS 3.0. The material for this training call will be posted on CMS’SNF PPS website.
- You can also access a memo outlining transition guidelines for the provisions included in the SNF PPS Final Rule for FY 2012 here.
- CMS is working diligently to have the revised RAI User’s Manual posted by the beginning of September. This revised manual will include changes from the SNF PPS Final Rule for FY 2012.
The next SNF ODF will be held at 2 p.m. EST on September 1, during which CMS will provide more review and clarification of the new policies enacted by the SNF PPS Final Rule for FY 2012.
