CMS recently released a memo to state survey agency directors that contained a revised version of Chapter 7 of the State Operations Manual, which provides surveyors with the nursing home survey, certification, and enforcement regulations. The changes were made to delete information determined to be inappropriate for this chapter, add new information, and revise the numbering of the subsections. Some of the changes have been previously communicated through other means since the chapter was last revised in 2004. The revised Chapter 7 can be found on the Internet-Only Manuals page of the CMS Web site and in the letter to the state survey agency directors.
