CMS has been busy recently, updating and adding new MDS 3.0 training information on their website. On September 13, CMS released revisions to the following sections of the RAI User’s Manual:
- Chapter 2
- Chapter 3 Sections A, E, F, G, I, J, K, M, O, Q, V, and X
- Chapter 5
- Chapter 6
- Appendices B and C
For each revised chapter or section, there is a separate document that tracks the changes between this version (V 1.04) and the previous version.
On September 15, CMS posted YouTube training videos for Chapter 3 Sections B, C, D, K, and P of the RAI User’s Manual as well as an MDS 3.0 Training Materials Change Document that reflects any changes to the training slides and instructor guides from previously published versions.
Then, on September 16, CMS released a document that provides guidance for transitioning to and completing the MDS 3.0. This document especially facilitates completing the MDS 3.0 in instances where there has been a change on the assessment and in understanding look-back periods/dates. CMS also released MDS 3.0 Training Aides, which contain algorithms and assessment aides that may be helpful when performing assessments or coding the MDS.
You can find the new and revised documents under the Downloads section of CMS’ MDS 3.0 Training Materials web page, and links to the YouTube videos under the Related Links Outside CMS section of the same page.
