CMS held the third and final call in their RUG-IV National Provider Call series on Wednesday, September 1. Sheila Lambowitz, director of CMS’ Division of Institutional Post-Acute Care, began the call by saying that CMS is working hard to answer the questions they have received recently. However, Lambowitz warned callers that some of the questions raised will require some slight changes to the manual.
Lambowitz then passed the call over to Ellen Berry, a senior clinical policy and research analyst with CMS’ Division of Institutional Post-Acute Care, who spent the remainder of the time walking listeners through the various SNF PPS assessments and policies. A main focus of Berry’s presentation was completing the Start of Therapy (SOT) OMRA, End of Therapy (EOT) OMRA, and Medicare Short-Stay Assessment. The slide presentation, as well as the short-stay algorithm and RUG-IV Case Mix Indices also provided to listeners on the call, can be accessed under the Downloads section of the CMS SNF PPS Spotlight Web page.
