House passes bill to repeal RUG-IV delay
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, July 22, 2010
On July 14, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5712, which would repeal the one-year delay of RUG-IV included in the healthcare reform law and allow CMS to implement RUG-IV in full on October 1, 2010.
“I commend the House for its approval today of these technical corrections to the Medicare payment system for skilled nursing care,” the American Health Care Association President and CEO Bruce Yarwood said in a statement released earlier this week. “While highly complex, the necessary correction to this regulatory matter will have a far-reaching impact and offers a more complete picture of the care needs of long term and post-acute care patients.”
The Senate is expected to pass H.R. 5712, also known as the Veterans’, Seniors’ and Children’s Health Technical Corrections Act. Stay tuned to MDSCentral for more information about the Senate’s vote on this bill.
