SCSAs: Tips for correct completion

Determining when a Significant Change in Status Assessment (SCSA) is necessary and completing the assessment can be a difficult process, but one that facilities must master to provide appropriate care to all residents and avoid survey deficiencies.
To ensure the timely identification of significant changes and successful completion of SCSAs, the interdisciplinary team must have a comprehensive understanding of the assessment and documentation requirements, be aware of residents’ status and any potential changes, and communicate necessary information to other staff members.
