The key is developing an environment where necessary information and documentation is readily available to both sides. Equally important is maintaining open lines of communication so that questions can be asked and answers can be provided promptly.
This type of setting perpetuates an ideal relationship between the billing office and clinical staff members, which helps eliminate issues and errors caused by a lack of communication. It will become even more critical in four months with the implementation of the MDS 3.0, as the need for departments to work together will be amplified.
