Tip of the week: Prepare a survey folder

It is very important for administrators to have a survey folder that is available at all times and is updated regularly. This folder should contain the important information surveyors may request upon entering the facility, such as:
- Current census, including residents on medical or temporary leave
- Copy of the actual work schedule for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs for the current work period
- Facility floor plan
- List of key personnel with their phone numbers, extensions, and locations in the building
- Copy of admissions information and contracts
- Copy of resident rights
- List of residents admitted during the past month and a list of residents discharged during the past three months
- List of residents 55 years of age and under
- Copy of policies and procedures to prohibit and investigate issues of abuse
- Contract/agreement with vendor that will provide emergency water
- Copy of current activities calendar
- Name of resident council president and his or her room number
- Copy of facility license
