Use grace days for MDS scheduling success

“People in long-term care facilities are so geared towards avoiding audits that many facilities don’t use grace days at all. But this is not a good practice,” says Rena R. Shephard, MHA, RN, RAC-MT, C-NE, president of RRS Healthcare Consulting Services in San Diego. “People should learn how to appropriately use grace days because they can help facilities solve scheduling problems and receive appropriate reimbursement for the services provided.”
