White House to host bipartisan healthcare reform summit
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, February 11, 2010
On February 7, President Obama announced his plans for a summit to be held later this month in the hope of reigniting the coals of healthcare legislation. The session, which will be televised live, will include Democrat and GOP leaders, according to The New York Times.
Many Republicans maintain that the current legislation needs to be discarded and a new plan – with less spending – ought to be developed. The President, like most Democrats, ardently opposes the idea of scrapping the bill and starting over. Both sides are encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the meeting, which is scheduled for February 25.
