I am the billing manager for a SNF in the process of switching therapy companies. My boss has asked me to create a list of billing and/or compliance issues that should be included in the request for proposal (RFP). I have never done anything like this before and would like to know what issues you would include in the RFP.
I will answer this question solely from a billing perspective. Some of the issues I would include in the RFP and also address in the interview process are as follows:
Ask for a sample invoice including all supporting documentation for billing purposes to ensure that the necessary information will be provided to your facility so you can prepare a complete bill according to Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers as necessary.
