The interaction between a SNF billing office and its Medicare administrative contractor (MAC) is clearly important to the business concerns of the facility. The relationship is also of utmost significance to the MAC, which is responsible for processing the Medicare claims for all facilities in its designated region.
However, just because each office values the other doesn’t mean collaboration always goes smoothly. After all, the relationship is often exercised under stressful conditions, as busy billers seek answers or assistance with a returned claim.
Despite the sometimes hectic and rushed interaction, there are ways for billers to lessen the stress associated with addressing a problem claim.
