The care plan is the most important component of the resident’s medical record. The consistency of the care plan makes expectations clear and keeps all staff members on the same page regarding resident problems, goals, needs, and approaches. Facilities that develop and use the individual resident care plans daily seldom have problems with state surveys. With care plans, residents receive excellent, consistent, goal-directed care from all staff members.
