With flu season around the corner, many SNFs are beginning the annual initiative to vaccinate their residents. SNF business offices across the nation will soon be faced with the task of billing numerous flu vaccines, and to do so quickly, billers must know how to use the roster billing method.
With roster billing, SNFs can include multiple residents on the same claim, rather than submitting separate ¬UB-04s for each resident who received a flu or pneumonia vaccine. Although roster billing is a time-saver for billers, it can be a bit tricky. To ensure that claims are processed quickly and the facility receives appropriate reimbursement, SNF billers should brush up on the rules and requirements of roster billing.
