Keeping track of the number of hours each CNA has completed is important because the state determines the amount of hours of training CNAs must have. If CNAs fail to meet the annual training requirements, they will lose their certification and no longer be able to legally work as caregivers. By helping CNAs keep track of these important training hours, you ensure that none lose or even risk losing their certification.
Start keeping track by creating a training reminder note that informs caregivers of how many training hours they have, how many they must receive to remain certified, and the date by which they must complete their training. Hand reminders to staff while inviting them to join you at the next inservice.
This is an excerpt from HCPro’s book, The CNA Training Solution, Second Edition.
