Sebelius is new Secretary of HHS

The Senate confirmed Kathleen Sebelius’ new position as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with a 65-31 vote on April 28, according to The Washington Post.
Sebelius, who was the Governor of Kansas from 2003 to 2009, faced many obstacles in the journey to her new position, such as delays due to Republican opposition of her pro-life stance. However, the recent outbreak of swine flu quieted Republican resistance and hastened efforts to fill the Secretary of HHS position, according to The Washington Post.
