Preliminary 2010 Medicare Advantage reimbursement rates lower than expected
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, February 26, 2009
On February 20, CMS released the Advance Notice of policy and technical changes to be made to the Medicare Advantage (MA) program in 2010, according to a CMS fact sheet. The Advance Notice included a preliminary estimate of a 0.5% growth in MA, a significantly lower percentage than expected. Growth rates ultimately affect reimbursement for MA plans and, to maintain their income, many plans may be forced to cut benefits in 2010, according to CNN.
The growth rate is only an estimate and comments on the Advance Notice must be submitted by 6pm EST on Friday, March 6. The final rate will be released April 6.
