Associations discuss the five-star program with CMS

Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, February 5, 2009

Representatives from the American Health Care Association (AHCA), the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), and the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care (AQNHC) met with CMS on January 22 to discuss concerns with the Five Star Rating Program, according to an update from the Indiana Health Care Association (IHCA). Many providers believe the rating system is flawed and the associations urged CMS to take immediate action to correct the imperfections.

CMS representatives discussed potential opportunities for improvement and agreed to present the associations’ comments and concerns regarding the Five Star Rating Program to the new administration. For more information, refer to the IHCA’s brief summary of the meeting.
