Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, December 18, 2008
During a December 11 SNF open door forum held by CMS, Thomas Hamilton, director of CMS’ survey and certification group, announced that the agency will implement the Five Star Quality Rating System for nursing homes on December 18. Two days prior to the implementation date, nursing homes across the nation began receiving previews of their individual ratings through electronic connections to their state’s server.
Facility ratings, which will appear on the Nursing Home Compare website, are based on the following three types of performance measures:
- Health inspections
- Staffing
- Quality measures
