New Medicaid rules give states more flexibility
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, December 11, 2008
CMS recently issued a new regulation that would give states flexibility in designing their own Medicaid programs, according to a December 3 press release from CMS. The final rule for redesigning Medicaid will allow states to adjust the benefits they offer to better meet the needs of their residents.
CMS also recently issued another final rule that would give states the opportunity to adjust the cost of premiums and co-payments, according to the press release. In today’s unstable economy, raising the cost of premiums and co-payments could help states avoid devastating Medicaid cuts.
