CMS releases new MDS 3.0 information
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, October 30, 2008
On Wednesday October 22, CMS released new MDS 3.0 information, including the Item Set Draft and Data Specifications, giving providers an opportunity to view the final draft details of the new assessment system before it is implemented next year.
The item set draft outlines what is likely to be covered by the final MDS 3.0. Although the draft is meant to help providers prepare for the MDS 3.0, it is important to note that draft items are subject to change. View the MDS 3.0 Item Set Draft here.
The MDS 3.0 Data Specifications is a document detailing the new data submission requirements created to support MDS 3.0 and can be read here.
The MDS 3.0 implementation remains on schedule and is still expected to go into effect October 1, 2009, CMS officials said during a recent SNF Long-Term Care Open Door Forum.
