New study will highlight the underfunding of long-term care
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, October 23, 2008
This week, AHCA plans to reveal a new study by Eljay LLC detailing the persistent underfunding of long-term care, according to an AHCA press release.
Medicaid is responsible for the daily cost of care for the majority of nursing home residents. However, Medicaid payments often fall short and nursing facilities struggle to cover the difference, according to the press release. In drawing attention to the underfunding of long-term care facilities, the study will emphasize the need for a state Medicaid relief component in any potential economic stimulus package that may be created in the future.
