Public health hazards receive funding from HHS

Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, June 12, 2008

The Department of Health and Human Services has announced that nearly $1.1 billion has been made available to help public health departments and other organizations to build up their ability to address threats to public health.

These funds will go towards dealing with major emergency events, such as terrorist attacks or natural disasters, and will be distributed through several cooperative agreements with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Public Health Emergency Preparedness cooperative agreement, and the Hospital Preparedness Program.
