Long-Term Care

National nursing home week is here

Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, May 15, 2008

This week is National Nursing Home Week. The American Health Care Association (AHCA) began devoting a week to nursing homes in 1967. This year's theme is "Love is Ageless." Some activities suggested by the AHCA include:

  • Hide the heart, where teams gain points for finding hidden hearts throughout your facility
  • Learn to love others, where residents chose a number from a hat and sit at that table number during meal time, and converse with other residents at the table prompted by questions provided
  • Pass the love, which is a form of tag where residents and staff must "pass the love" once they are tagged

For more information on these activities, and more, visit the AHCA website.
