CMS took some of the mystery out of its plans for nursing homes, releasing the 34-page 2008 Action Plan for (Further Improvement of) Nursing Home Quality in late April. Here are some of the monthly and seasonal highlights:
June: CMS is scheduled to publish information on the national efforts to reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers and the use of restraints in nursing homes.
July: CMS plans to publish new guidance to surveyors regarding nutrition, specifically about F-tags #325 and #371.
The agency also expects to publish revised guidance for pain management as part of F-tag #309 sometime in the fall.
