The admission MDS: Avoid common mistakes

The OBRA assessment schedule must be followed for all residents of Medicare-certified skilled nursing facility (SNF) units and Medicaid-certified nursing facility units, regardless of payment source, who are in a facility at least 14 days. (For details, review pp. 1-15 and 1-16 of the RAI User’s Manual.) The admission MDS assessment is the initial comprehensive OBRA assessment, so it sets the stage for residents’ care. Take the following steps to ensure that this critical assessment is completed accurately and on time
