Healthcare spending expected to remain consistent through 2017

Healthcare spending in 2007 is estimated to be at 6.7%, according to a report released by CMS on Tuesday. That rate is expected to remain constant through 2017. CMS anticipates that annual growth in healthcare spending will be higher than annual growth in the economy from 2007 through 2017. By 2017, healthcare spending in the United States is expected to reach $4.3 trillion and comprise of 19.5% of the gross domestic product, according to CMS.
