It is up to each person to decide what his or her goals are for the final phase of life. Caregivers can help dying people identify and achieve their goals. Some end-of-life goals include:

  • Achieving personal goals and desires
  • Getting relief from pain and other uncomfortable symptoms
  • Using emotional and spiritual help to deal with approaching death
  • Spending quality time with friends and family
  • Preparing self and loved ones for death
