Congress passes Medicare bill before winter recess
Contemporary Long-Term Care Weekly, December 27, 2007
President Bush is expected to sign the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007 (S.2499), which Congress passed last week.
The legislation will temporarily rescind scheduled payment cuts for Part B services, including rehabilitation therapy, provided under the calendar 2008 Medicare physician fee schedule. Instead of a 10.1% payment cut, providers will enjoy a 0.5% increase through June 30. The payment cuts will go into effect July 1 without further Congressional action.
