Revisit user fee program won't go away

CMS has published another interim final rule with comment period (CMS-2278-IFC2) that implements the next continuation of the Revisit User Fee Program for Medicare Survey and Certification activities into fiscal year 2008.
The controversial system, which charges a fee to facilities that require a revisit survey as a result of deficiencies cited during initial certification, recertification, or a substantiated complaint survey, was established in September. The fees for skilled nursing facilities are $168 for an offsite revisit survey and $2,072 for an onsite revisit survey.
