Georgia and New York latest states with False Claims Acts

Georgia and New York have each passed state-specific versions of the False Claims Act (FCA), bringing the total number of states with such laws to 19. New York's FCA was signed into law by Governor Eliot Spitzer, and Georgia's was passed by the state's house and senate and sent to the governor on April 30. Spitzer has also appointed former healthcare prosecutor Jim Sheehan to be New York's Medicaid Inspector General, the governor's office reports.
