FDA warns Lilly about misleading information in ad

Pharma Compliance Alert, August 9, 2006

An FDA warning letter says a brochure for Eli Lilly's cancer drug Alimta failed to say what specific conditions it treats. The letter also says that the brochure fails to tell patients that there were no trials showing clinical benefit in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

The FDA also cited Lilly for mentioning other kinds of cancer that the drug is not approved to treat and failing to include a warning about potential risks for pregnant women taking the drug.
