Watson recalls Propafenone HCL tablets

Pharma Compliance Alert, March 25, 2009

Watson Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling one lot of Propafenone HCL 225 mg tablets sold in 100 count bottles because some tablets may contain too much of the active ingredient, the company announced.

Propafenone is used to treat irregular heartbeats. Patients who are sensitive to small differences in dose may experience potentially serious side effects, the company said. Watson is recalling only one lot, and does not anticipate any shortage of the product.
