NeuroMetrix resolves kickback allegations

Device maker NeuroMetrix, based in Waltham, MA, agreed to pay a $1.2 million criminal fine to resolve allegations it paid kickbacks to physicians who used its NC-stat System, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
Physicians use the NC-stat System in their offices to diagnose neuropathies in peripheral nerves and the spine. In addition to purchasing the system from NeuroMetrix, physicians had to purchase disposable biosensors from the company to continue using the device.
