Groups push for gift ban in New York

New York may become the next state to ban gifts from pharmaceutical companies to physicians if consumer groups get their way.

A coalition of consumer groups, including the AARP, Consumers Union, and Center for Medical Consumers, wants the New York state legislature to approve a budget proposal that bans gifts worth more than $50 from pharmaceutical companies to physicians, according to an AARP press release.
