Credentialing requirements continue to be concern for industry

The relationship between the surgeon and the sales representative is vital to patient care. However, medical device manufacturers and their sales representatives are increasingly facing a new barrier to physician access: healthcare industry representative credentialing.
Credentialing requirements run the gamut from a letter certifying that the sales representative has received training to background checks and drug tests. Currently, no national credentialing requirements exist, so hospitals can create their own list of requirements.
