CMS provides more information about DMEPOS competitive bidding

CMS will send letters and brochure explaining the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetic, and Orthotic Suppliers Competitive bidding project, which begins July 1. CMS will include a list of the contract suppliers to beneficiaries in the 10 communities in which the first round of the bidding project will operate. The same materials will also go to DME referral agencies, hospital discharge planners, physician offices, and home health agencies.
CMS also issued the following additional guidance and resources:
- Tip sheet regarding how the program affects mail order diabetes testing supplies
- Tip sheet concerning non-contract suppliers
- Transcript of May teleconference providing general information about the program and addressing attendees’ questions.
